Clearing The Camera

Here are some recent photos I've taken that I wanted to share. Go here if you'd like to see more photo posts.

Guineas taking a rest on the fence.

This is how Gizmo likes to sit while looking out the window. So silly!

Brass mouthpieces from David's band room.

Playing games by candlelight during a power outage.

Visiting my neighbors across the street :)

Hope you've enjoyed a slice of our homestead!

PS - Just wanted to let everyone know that I have removed the option for anonymous comments because I have been receiving over 50 spam comments every day, many with offensive language. I have set it to comments from registered users only, so I hope that I don't exclude any of you from commenting. If you have any tips for me or if you aren't able to comment on my post, please email me at tdbarani@yahoo.com.

  1. i've always used the 'registered users including open i.d.' and get very little spam if ever...

    love your camera dump. :)

  2. Gorgeous photo! I love the picture of Gizmo! What a cutie!

I had to switch to the Disqus commenting system for the same reason (you might want to explore that option so that you don't lose any of your commenting friends). It's very user friendly and easy to install. I actually love it so much I wish I had installed it earlier.

    Wishing you a lovely day.

  3. Not many cats will sit like that. I had a pair once where one of them would only sleep on his stomach with his legs out in all directions, and the other would only sleep on her back, which was very strange but funny to see when they were side by side. How is little Emma? Did she ever hatch that egg?

    1. In addition to using 'registered users including open i.d.' for comments, you can also set it to require a 'word verification' code to post the comment. That's what I do and I only have gotten 1 suspect message ever.

    2. Just a small note about the word verification - many people who read on touch screen devices find it cumbersome to use these and so they end up not commenting, even though they'd like to. Depends on your own preferences.

  6. I love the guineas in your first shot!
I had to do the same think with anon. comments. Too much spam!
The options of word verification was not something I wanted to use. I always find them frustrating when leaving comments for others.
    Nice photos :)

  7. Love the shot of the guineas lined up on the fence! Yes, I changed the comment form to registered users a couple of years ago and have had no problems since. Too bad there are people out there that think they need to post offensive spam messages.

  19. I love the photos. The guineas and Gizmo are my favorite. Even though I love that pic of Gizmo I still miss my Sylvester. :( I'm fine with commenting this way. Why people think it's ok to comment on anyone's blog with profanity or even bully them is beyond me. If you have nothing nice to say, then say nothing at all. Don't even stop by!

  43. Tammy, I had to do the same thing with comments a few months or more ago. After blogging about 7 years without comment moderation, I was bummed.. but I was getting some very disturbing spam, too. As soon as I switched to moderating comments, it stopped. It took me a solid week to get used to using comment moderation, but I don't mind it anymore!

Your guineas remind me that today, over Thanksgiving dinner, my niece filled me in on her newly acquired EMU!!! It had been abandoned by it's owners, and it has taken to her.. whe's a bit of a Dr. Doolittle. :)
