Green Eggs

When we got our new chicks this year, we made sure to get an Easter Egger so we would have a colorful variety of eggs. Easter Eggers lay beautiful eggs - typically either bright blue, olive, mint green, or even pink! All six of our other pullets have begun laying, so we've been on pins and needles to see what color Isis would lay.

We lost our beloved Easter Egger, Cleo, last month and she laid the most gorgeous mint green eggs. Isis is nearly an identical copy of Cleo - her coloring is virtually the same and she has the same quirky personality - so we were hoping that meant she'd lay green eggs as well.

Yesterday when I collected eggs at the end of the day I saw that our wish came true!

A vibrant blue-green egg! I was so happy I tracked Isis down to give her a big hug and tell her what a great job she did. She listened very intently :)

One of the other pullets lays a white egg, and the remaining five lay varying shades of brown. Of the brown eggs, one is darker than the others with a slight reddish tint.

It is so fun to collect these beautiful eggs at the end of the day. It's like going on an Easter egg hunt every day of the year!

  1. LOVE that! When we started getting all different shades and colored eggs, I had to take pictures of them. They just looked so cheery sitting in the basket. Even now, it makes me smile to think of how pretty they all looked. Thanks for evolking the memory and reminding me to enjoy the little blessings we get each day.
