Snippets

I wrote this post earlier this year but never published it. Today I was cleaning up my post list and found it, and it made me really happy so I thought I'd finally share it.

Sometimes it's the little things that really brighten my day. Here are some recent highlights.

*Spent a long time on the phone with a guy at work today answering a lot of questions for him. At the end of the call, he said kindly, "Thank you. You're a nice lady."

*My sister told me that every time she and my almost two year old nephew visit my parents, he looks at my picture on the coffee table in the living room.

*Showed my sister a video I had on my phone of my nephew when he was about eight months old. She gushed over her bald, tiny baby in the 43 second video and when it was over she kissed the screen.

*Read this today. Dare you not to cry.

*Yesterday I was rushing to get all the groceries on my list and rudely stepped in front of an old man to grab my milk because I knew I could snatch it up fast. I opened the cooler door and stood there staring for a few seconds trying to find the right one when he leaned in and said with a friendly smile and a gentle pat on my back, "Whatcha lookin' for?" I told him I was trying to find the soy milk in the green container. He helped me look for a little while until I said, "Well, looks like they're out. Guess I'll just have to come back later." And he gave a big, grandfatherly chuckle. I miss having a grandpa.

*Tried on this crazy bright lipstick at Sephora today to find that it actually looked pretty good! Although I don't think I could ever bring myself to spend $24 on a single tube of lipstick.

*Spent the night with family at my parents' house. Excitedly drove home to my well-lit house in the dark woods to get to my sweet husband and talk about the day.

*Tonight my eight year old nephew said the funniest thing I've heard in a long time. Someone had been in the bathroom for a while and he said, "He's taking the Browns to the Super Bowl." Clever kid. Lots of poop jokes followed. I'll spare you the dirty details.
